Background
Jean Claude Gandur was born in 1949 in the town of Grasse, France. He holds a law and political science degree from the University of Lausanne and a degree in ancient history from Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
Gandur, a son of European parents and a Swiss citizen, grew up in Egypt and owns one of the most respected Egyptian antique collections in the world. Gandur loves art and believes in its ability to connect people, so in 2010 he founded the Gandur pour l'Art Foundation. In addition, in 2011 he founded the Gandur pour la Jeunesse Foundation which supports young people with disabilities in Switzerland.
Gandur made his fortune from oil companies and his personal fortune is estimated at $ 2.3 billion.
